Posting to Total CMS with PostOnly
Total CMS is the one network PostOnly posts to that you own outright. Posts go into a Feed collection on your own site, so your words live on your domain instead of someone else's platform.
PostOnly and Total CMS are made by the same people, which is why your own site is always free here: as many sites as you like, as many posts as you like, on every plan. Because the destination is yours, there is no character limit, and a post can carry a title. This site's feed is filled exactly this way.
How to connect Total CMS
- In PostOnly choose Add Account → Total CMS Feed….
- Give it a display name if you like.
- Site URL: the base URL of your site, with no trailing path (for example
https://example.com). - API Key: paste a key from your Total CMS admin (Utilities → API Keys). PostOnly keeps it in your Keychain, never in the app's data.
- Collection: leave it empty for
feed, or name the Feed collection you made. - Save. PostOnly checks the key against your site before it keeps the account, and the site appears in the sidebar.

Good to know
- The 10 MB image cap is PostOnly's default. The real limit is configurable on your server.
- A wrong key or a missing collection fails at Save, not at posting: PostOnly checks both before it keeps the account.
If a post fails, Activity says why, and the other networks still go out. If the error names the account, reconnect it from the sidebar. Anything else, ask.
Total CMS questions
Do I need a Feed collection on my site first?
Yes. PostOnly posts into a collection built on the Feed schema that ships with Total CMS. Make one in your admin, or run tcms collection:create feed on the command line. Call it feed and PostOnly finds it with the Collection field left empty; give it another name and type that name instead. The feed page on this site is one.
Where do I get the API key?
In your Total CMS admin under Utilities → API Keys, create a key named PostOnly. Allow GET and POST and limit its path to your feed collection (/api/collections/feed), so the key can do nothing else. Copy it when it is shown; Total CMS shows a key once. PostOnly stores it in your Keychain. The API keys guide covers scopes in detail.
